H Δρ Σωσσίδου είναι Κτηνίατρος με Διδακτορική Διατριβή στην Επιζωοτιολογία της Βρουκέλλωσης των Προβάτων και Αιγών και Μετα-Διδακτορική Διατριβή στην Ευζωία των Παραγωγικών Ζώων. Το ερευνητικό της αντικείμενο είναι η Εκτροφή Παραγωγικών Ζώων με έμφαση στην εκτίμηση της σχέσης μεταξύ της υγείας και ευζωίας των ζώων και του περιβάλλοντος της εκτροφής αυτών, καθώς και της ποιότητας των παραγόμενων προϊόντων.
