Dr. Ilias Apostolakos is a Researcher in the field of Veterinary Bacteriology and Bioinformatics. He is a graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a PhD from the University of Padua (Italy), specializing in antimicrobial resistance and the epidemiology of pathogenic antibiotic-resistant bacteria through metagenomic techniques. Additionally, he holds Master’s degrees in Food Microbiology (Wageningen University, Netherlands) and Bioinformatics (Hellenic Open University).
He has research experience as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institutes of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (ELGO-DIMITRA). Furthermore, he has worked as a Bioinformatician at the company DEUS EX MACHINA, developing data analysis and AI applications for the health and nutrition sectors.
His research interests focus on the study of bacterial pathogenesis and epidemiology through the application of computational biology methods, under the "One Health" approach.
